Questions? I’ve got answers!

“I’ve had my consultation, what’s next?”

If it’s determined that we are both a good fit to move forward, a link to complete intake forms will be emailed to you via my secure, online client portal prior to your appointment. Please fill out all documents at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.

“Will I benefit from counseling / therapy?”

If you are looking to better cope with the stress of everyday life, improve your relationships with others and with yourself, and to make a change by accomplishing some personal or professional goals, counseling can help. I can facilitate increased insight and awareness into your current situation for you to achieve actionable growth. Also, if you are facing any type of life transition, therapy can help you prepare for the next phase of your life.

“How long will my session last?”

For new clients, sessions are typically held once a week or every 2 weeks for about 50 minutes. Once a plan is established, we may taper sessions to once every 3 weeks or once per month. The total amount of our time together will depend on your needs and preferences. Some concerns are resolved in just a few sessions, while other concerns take a longer, ongoing approach. You are in control of when you terminate treatment.

“Can I cancel / reschedule my appointment?”

Yes, you may cancel or reschedule your appointment via text or email. For cancels or reschedules with less than 24 hours notice, a cancellation/no-show fee applies.

“What do those letters behind your name mean?”

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Supervisor (LPC-S) which means I have passed the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE) and completed over 3,000+ post-graduate hours of supervised counseling in a professional environment - allowing me to practice independently. I’m also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) which is a premier board certification demonstrating that I have voluntarily met high national standards for the practice of counseling. In addition, I’m also a Certified School Counselor (CSC) in the state of Texas.

“What forms of payment do you accept?”

I accept electronic payment (credit cards, including HSA/FSA cards) via my online client portal, Simple Practice, or via Square as backup. I require a valid card to be kept on file for payment of sessions (including late cancellation or no-show fees).

“Will what we discuss be kept confidential?”

Absolutely!  I believe confidentiality is at the cornerstone of the client/counselor relationship.  I will not disclose what we discuss without your written permission.  There are a few exceptions by law:

  • Suspected child or elder abuse. (I am mandated to report this)

  • Risk of harm to self (I have to ensure client safety)

  • Risk of harm to others (Duty to warn victim)

  • Court ordered subpoena (signed by a judge)

“Can I friend you on social media?”

If you wish, you may follow my social media business page here, however my counseling code of ethics requires that I set professional boundaries which means that I cannot be friends with you online or in real life.  Friends support and care for each other, but our therapeutic relationship is one-way and is all about me supporting you.
